THE WALKING DEAD
"AN EYE FOR AN EYE"
The AMC hit show, The Walking Dead is a thrilling and exciting horror show that has gotten viewers hooked just within episodes. The show was released in 2010 and is still going strong with people obsessing over this horror-filled drama. The series has several directors what was created by Frank Darabont. The main charachter Rick is played by Andrew Lincoln, along with his wife in the show Lori, played by Sarah Wayne Callies. Rick's best friend Shane is played by Jon Bernthal and another lead charachter, Glenn, is played by Steven Yeun. There are more many main charachtrs because they are a big group of survivors working together throughout the episodes.
The show is about a group of survivors that go through many challenges in a world taken over by zombies. The main charachter Rick, is the lead figure of the group who is also a Sheriff's depuity along with his best friend Shane. Their past careers gives them a lot of knowledge and physical advantages to many of the challenges they are apprached by and they risk their lives for the others in the group. In the first epsiode, Rick wakes up from being in a coma, to a world that has already been destroyed and taken over. The zombies are as hungry as can be and will do anything to get to any human they smell or see. He finds his way out of the hostpital and returns to his home to find it empty. He then makes his way to Atlanta to find his son and wife and gets himself into dangrous and risky situations. That is when he meets Glenn, who evetually leads him to the campsite and the rest of the group, where Rick is reunited with his wife and son. This group of people must survive together with limited supplies and zombies slowly making their way out of the city, and in search for more humans.
This show certainly fits into the horror genre perfectly becuase of various different aspecsts of it. First off, the show is about a world taken over by zombies, it can not get more horror than that. Other than that obvious fact, the show itself and the way things occur adds to the horror-esque of the show. There are many scenes where the viewers are just waiting for something to happen, however, when the action occurs, it is one hell of a scene. The interesting thing about this show is the fact that it takes so long for one thing to happen, but the detours in the scenes are always keeping you on your feet and nervous for what will happen next. Instead of just being predictable, it makes so many other intense and thrilling scenes occur before the most obvious one. Therefore, maybe you could guess what the end result would be, but how they get there always take you by surpise. In addition to action and journey they go though during these epsiodes, the gorey parts of it justify it's horror genre label even more so. There is one scene where Rick, Glenn and a few others are stuck in a deaprtment store with the builing sourrounded by hungry zombies. They had to find a way to escape so they brought in one of the dead zombies, ripped his bodies open and into peices, and covered themselves with their blood and intestines. Once they did this and they smelt like zombies, they started walking in the streets with the other zombies in search for a vehicle or some way of escaping. Any show with a scene like that must be one out of a horror show.
The Walking Dead is one of the best shows I've seen yet. It really captivates you and makes you think with the charaters of ways they can overcome obstables and survive. The cast choice has also been unbelievable so far. The main charachter Rick, is a perfect choice for his charachter, along with the other main character of the group. They are all really different from each other, therefore when they work together and help each other out they are really powerful. If I had to give this show a grade, even after only a few episodes, I would give it an A because it has all the aspects of a good show. It has the action, the drama, the interesting cast, and a good plot. If you have any interest at all in horror shows or even if you are not a huge fan, I highy recommend this show. You won't be dissapointed, but just a warning, you will get hooked!
